At first it was the washing machine. Meanwhile the flexibility potential of electricity demand is seen in the automatic control of the charging of electric cars, heat pumps and electricity storage systems.

In the pebbles project Siemens and Allgäuer Überlandwerk are working to build a smart grid and to test a local marketplace for such flexibility. Michael Lucke from Allgäuer Überlandwerk and Stefan Nießen from Siemens report on the goals and the first experiences in this project.
