Yet, technology continues to progress. These two factors combined are increasingly shifting the focus of thinking in the area of future energy supply-system design onto smart and decentralised approaches.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The <em>pebbles<\/em> project (<u>p<\/u>eer-to-peer <u>e<\/u>nergy trading <u>b<\/u>ased on <u>bl<\/u>ockchain<u>s<\/u>) is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitale-technologien.de\/DT\/Navigation\/DE\/Foerderprogramme\/Smart-Service-Welt-2\/smart-service-welt-2.html;jsessionid=CFDB8144E03A0FBF13BDEB03F0267511\"><em>Smart Service World II<\/em><\/a> programme. Our work is based on a law which came into force in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>We want to democratise the energy supply by actively involving end users and small-scale producers.
